Why AI Visibility Matters
More and more of your customers ask AI assistants instead of searching. AI Visibility shows you whether the answers mention you — and what to do when they don't.
A growing share of your potential customers never see a search results page. They ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, or Google's AI a question — "What's the best free legal help resource in Illinois?", "Which agencies build large Drupal sites?" — and get one written answer. Either you're in that answer, or you don't exist for that person.
That's the problem AI Visibility solves: it tells you whether AI assistants mention you when your customers ask the questions you should be the answer to — and when they don't, it tells you what to change on your site so they start to.
Two situations you might be in
"AI never brings us up." A nonprofit offering free legal help knows people ask AI things like "How do I file a name change without a lawyer?" every day. If the AI recommends other organizations, those people never arrive. AI Visibility shows which questions you're absent from, who the AI recommends instead, and what those competitors' pages have that yours don't.
"AI talks about us but doesn't send anyone to us." An agency finds AI assistants sometimes name-drop their brand but never link to their site — so the mention earns no visits and no trust. AI Visibility separates being mentioned from being linked, and shows how to turn a passing mention into a recommendation with your link attached.
What each feature enables you to do
| Feature | What it enables |
|---|---|
| AI Visibility checks | Know, with evidence, whether AI assistants mention you — and act on a short list of fixes when they don't |
| Brand Radar | Watch the trend over weeks: are you gaining ground on competitors, and on which topics? |
| Personas | Make sure your content actually speaks to the people whose questions you want to win |
| Brand Voice | Keep everything you publish sounding like you, so improvements don't dilute your brand |
They work as a loop: define who you're writing for (Personas) and how you sound (Brand Voice) → check whether AI answers mention you (AI Visibility) → follow the suggested fixes → watch the trend improve (Brand Radar) → repeat.
Why this is different from SEO
Classic SEO earns you a position on a list — a link on page one that people can click. AI assistants don't show a list. They write one answer, assembled from sources they trust, and usually name only two or three brands.
That changes what "winning" takes:
- You can't buy or trick your way in. The only lever you have is publishing content that directly, credibly answers the question — the AI has to find your page worth quoting.
- Being quotable beats being long. A page that opens with a clear, direct answer gets cited; ten paragraphs of build-up gets skipped.
- Absence is invisible. With search you can see yourself on page three. With AI answers, you'd never know you were left out — unless you check.
The GEO Score in your audits measures whether your pages are built to be quoted. AI Visibility measures the outcome: whether real AI assistants actually mention you today. You need both — the first is the lever, the second is the scoreboard.

Before your first AI Visibility check, run one normal audit of your site. That's how SitePulse learns your brand name and domain — the things it will look for inside AI answers.
